Tuberculosis

Tuberculosis as is commonly known worldwide, is a crisis in South Africa. Common symptoms include fever, nightsweats, loss of weight and a chronic cough. Making the correct diagnosis has become easier in the last 5 years with the advent of point of care sputum testing. Despite this, making the diagnosis can still be a challenge especially early in the disease. Once confirmed, treatment outcomes are generally good and patients can go back to a normal life soon.
